What are the guidelines to determine Obesity?

The guidelines should be the patient’s BMI factor*; waist measurement and level of Cholesterol.

* The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), established the Body Mass Index (BMI), of 27 Kg /Mtr² with co morbidity factors and 30 kg / Mtr² as normal standards.

What are co morbidity factors?
These refer to secondary illnesses caused by obesity. Without the proper treatment obese patients stand the risk of; diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnoea, osteoarthritis, dyslipidaemia and certain cancers.
